AEF Awards

The Ayekoo Excellence Foundation recognizes and celebrates outstanding contributions to education through its Annual National Basic Schools Excellence Awards. These awards aim to highlight and reward exceptional achievements in Ghana’s basic education system, fostering a culture of excellence and inspiring continuous improvement.

Criteria for Selection include

Academic Performance

Evaluate student’s performance in national examinations to gauge academic achievements.

Progress Overtime

Consider improvement in test scores and academic outcomes year over year to assess growth.

Teaching Quality (Teachers’ Qualification)

Check the educational background and certification of teaching staff.

Professional Development

Assess opportunities provided for the teachers to enhance their skills through workshops and trainings.

Innovative Methods

Look out for the application of modern teaching techniques and technology integration in the classroom.

Student Engagement

• Extracurricular activities: Participation in sports, arts, clubs and competitions, etc. • Leadership Opportunities: Educate on how students are encouraged to take on leadership roles within the school.

Infrastructure and Resources

Facilities: Assess the state of the classrooms, librarian, science laboratories and playgrounds. • Learning materials: Availability and quality of textbooks, computers and other educational resources. • State of the school building- How serene and safe they are

Vision and Strategy- Analyze the school’s long-term goals and strategies for achieving them. • School culture – Evaluate the effectiveness of leadership in fostering a positive and inclusive school culture. • Communication: Transparency and active communication with parents and the local community.

Community Involvement

• Partnership: Looks at collaboration with local businesses, NGOs and government bodies. • Parental Engagement: Evaluate the level of parental participation in school activities and decision-making processes.
